From Friday, 26 to Sunday, May 28, the medieval festival returns to the streets of the Cairo Montenotte hamlet.
The magic of Medieval Rocchetta returns from Friday 26 to Sunday, May 28, in Rocchetta Cairo, a hamlet of the Municipality of Cairo Montenotte, the journey through the Middle Ages organized by the ASD Ordine del Gheppio/Order of Kestrel now in its fifteenth edition.
After the great success of the last edition, with Rocchetta Medievale finally returning after two years of forced stop, this year’s edition will have as its theme “The Merchant,” the first stage of a journey that will retrace in three acts with Rocchetta Medievale, Medieval Ferrania, and Medieval Cairo, the story of St. Francis, a man who became a legend. During the three days of the event, merchants, musicians, jesters, falconers, armed men, and drummers will enliven the village while the taverns will refresh hungry wayfarers in search of delicacies.
The program of the fifteenth edition of Rocchetta Medievale will start on Friday, May 26, with the Medieval Dinner by reservation contacting 340-6534021. The program of Saturday, May 27, will see the opening of the hamlet at 6 pm, followed, at 6:15 pm, by the Historical Parade. At 6.30 pm, there will be the dance show with the ASD La Danza E’, and at 7 pm, the taverns will open. At 9 pm, there will be entertainment shows with ASD Atmosfera Danza, the falconry of the birds of prey of Il Mondo Nelle Ali, Nespolo Lo Giullare, the fiery duels by the Compagnia dell’Alto Monferrato, the musical show of the Sonagli of Tagatam and fire shows with the Iannà Tampè, for the occasion the taverns will remain open until late in the evening.
The program on Sunday, May 28, will start at 10.30 with the opening of the hamlet, at 11:15 the Holy Mass will be held with the blessing of fellow city district dwellers who will compete in the Palio at 12:30 pm, and there will be the opening of taverns. At 2:30 pm at the Scuderia Ponte Romano, there will be the baptism of the saddle for the little ones, and at 3:00 pm, the little riders can ride ponies along the medieval village streets. At 4:30 pm, the expected Historic Procession will be followed, at 5:00 pm, by the Palio delle Contrade/Palio of the city districts. At 6:30 pm, there will be the dance show with ASD Atmosfera Danza, and at 7:00 pm, the taverns will open. At 8:15 pm, there will be the awarding ceremony of the winning contrada of the Palio and, starting at 8.30 pm, space for entertainment shows with ASD La Danza E’, falconry with the birds of prey of Il Mondo Nelle Ali, Nespolo Lo Giullare, the musical show of the Rattles of Tagatam and the fire shows with the Iannà Tampe, even for Sunday the taverns will remain open until late for the famished.
